Fresh Flavours and Fashion Arrivals

If you haven't heard already, Salcombe has some fabulous new additions to its shopping and dining scene for this summer. Whether you're a foodie looking to tantalize your taste buds or a shopper hunting for unique finds, Rockfish, WNU and Aubin are all very welcome additions to Salcombe's high street.

Rockfish & Salcombe Brewery Tap House: A Waterfront Collaboration

Opening in June 2025, the eagerly awaited Rockfish Salcombe will sit proudly on Island Street, bringing Mitch Tonks’ award-winning seafood restaurant brand to the heart of town. Known for championing sustainable fishing and freshly caught British seafood, Rockfish restaurants have built a loyal following across the South West. The Salcombe site will feature a spacious waterside terrace, perfect for long, lazy lunches and early evening suppers with a view.

Sharing the premises is another exciting addition: the Salcombe Brewery Co. Tap House. This is the brewery’s first dedicated taproom and offers a chance to sample their full range of locally brewed ales and lagers—including some beers brewed exclusively on-site for the venue. Expect their much-loved Lifesaver, Island Street Porter, and Shingle Bay, alongside limited seasonal specials.

What makes this space unique is the merging of two Devon favourites—delicious fresh fish paired with small-batch, locally brewed beer, all just a stone’s throw from the water. It’s a casual, family-friendly venue that captures the spirit of Salcombe: relaxed, authentic, and proudly local.

Aubin: A Stylish Homecoming

Taking over the former Jack Wills store, Aubin has returned to Salcombe—a full-circle moment for a brand born from the same founder, Peter Williams. Originally launched in 2008 as a more refined sibling to Jack Wills, Aubin built a reputation for timeless, heritage-inspired clothing aimed at a slightly older audience. After a hiatus, the brand was revived in 2021 with a renewed focus on quality, sustainability, and considered design under the motto “Better is Greater than More.” Its Salcombe store marks a homecoming and reaffirms the town’s place in British fashion history.

With Nothing Underneath: Effortless Style Lands in Salcombe

One of the loveliest new arrivals on Fore Street this summer is With Nothing Underneath (or WNU as the insiders call it)—a beautifully understated womenswear brand that’s quietly become a favourite among those in the know. If you haven’t come across them before, think: perfectly cut shirts that borrow the best of classic menswear tailoring, but reimagined for women with a softer, more flattering feel.

The brand was started by Pip Durell (ex-Vogue and Tatler, no less), who was on a mission to create the kind of shirt you could wear from the school run to the office and then to lunch at The Winking Prawn, and still feel effortlessly put together. Since launching in 2017, WNU has built a bit of a cult following—and not just in London. Their organic cotton and linen shirts are the sort you buy once and wear forever. No fuss, no frills, just beautifully made wardrobe staples that feel like an upgrade on your everyday.

The Salcombe shop, tucked into No. 84 Fore Street, is their latest venture outside the capital—and frankly, it couldn’t suit the town more. Their pieces look just right thrown over a bikini on the beach, or paired with jeans for a walk into town. It’s low-key luxury at its best: relaxed, sustainable, and quietly stylish.
