Set on the peaceful banks of Batson Creek, Flying Swans is a beautifully designed waterside retreat where timeless English style meets a softer, contemporary elegance. Surrounded by lush gardens and overlooking the still waters of the estuary, it offers a rare sense of calm and privacy, while remaining just a gentle walk from the heart of Salcombe.
From the moment you step into the spacious entrance hall, there is an immediate sense of thoughtful design and quiet sophistication. The main living space unfolds on the lower level, where large picture windows frame the ever-changing creek beyond, filling the interiors with natural light. Carefully considered seating areas create an easy, relaxed atmosphere — from the deep window seat overlooking the water to the understated Scandi-inspired coffee corner and the inviting sofa area centred around slow mornings and long evenings indoors.
The kitchen is both beautifully finished and wonderfully sociable, centred around a large island and breakfast dining area, with everything designed for relaxed entertaining and family gatherings. Expansive sliding doors open directly onto the terrace, where coffee in the morning sun gently gives way to aperitifs overlooking the water as the light softens across the estuary.
Above, the mezzanine snug offers a quieter retreat, with sumptuous sofas and elevated views across Batson Creek — an inviting spot to read, pause and simply watch the changing rhythm of the water. The separate dining room creates a more intimate setting for long lunches and evenings with friends, centred around a generous wooden dining table and framed by elegant Crittall-style doors opening onto the garden terrace.
Along the softly vaulted corridor, each bedroom has been thoughtfully designed with its own calm and understated character. The principal suite feels particularly serene, layered with natural textures and muted tones, while the four-poster bed brings a quiet sense of grandeur. Bifold doors open onto a private garden patio, creating a lovely connection to the surrounding greenery, while the beautifully styled en suite shower room completes the space. Two further bedrooms — one king-size and one flexible king or twin — enjoy garden and estuary views and share a beautifully appointed Jack and Jill bathroom with a deep bath and separate shower.
Encircled by mature gardens, Flying Swans feels wonderfully secluded — a peaceful waterside sanctuary immersed in nature, yet effortlessly connected to the energy of Salcombe. It is a home that balances elegance with comfort, offering a more relaxed and refined way to experience the South Hams.
Flying Swans sleeps up to six guests in the main house, with the option of extending accommodation to eight guests through the adjoining annex, which offers an additional king-size bedroom and en suite shower room. For larger groups, Hytti — a beautifully crafted self-contained cabin adjoining the garden — allows the property to accommodate up to ten guests, while still retaining a wonderful sense of space and privacy.
