Hygge (pronounced Hoo-ga) - defined in Danish as a mood of coziness and "comfortable conviviality" with feelings of wellness and contentment. Something you won't hesitate to feel when stepping through the threshold at the delightful Hygge.  

Nestled into the bank of Salcombe Estuary Hygge boasts panoramic views over the crystal clear waters and over to the golden sands of the East Portlemouth beaches. While away your days lazing on the sun drenched terrace in sumptuous loungers, or take an easy stroll  to explore Salcombe's shops & restaurants, very conveniently just a 5 minute walk away. 

Neutral colours and textures have been thoughtfully layered across this two bedroom abode, including stone counters in the kitchen, chic soft furnishings and solid wood flooring throughout, all with a stylish nod to it's Scandi title.  Floor to ceiling windows and bifold doors drench the interior with light and once again showcase the gorgeous Salcombe estuary.

 

The two generously sized bedrooms benefit from direct access to the private terrace - the perfect spot for your morning coffee.  Super king beds and en-suite bathrooms in both bedrooms make the apartment perfect for two couples or  a small family.

 

Expansive bifold doors open onto the terrace to create a lovely indoor/outdoor feeling to the open-plan living and kitchen area; equipped with all your kitchen mod-cons and a delightful entertaining space.  Evening sundowners are an absolute must and on those warmer evenings you can even indulge in some alfresco dining  On colder days curl up on the comfy sofas with a good book or just admire the ever changing estuary vistas.

The hidden gem of Hygge is it's private slipway with direct access to the Salcombe estuary. The gorgeous gardens below are yours to explore and lead down, via steep steps, to the waters edge, perfect for launching your paddle board, kayak or jumping in for a quick dip!

  • Changeover day for Hygge is Thursday.

  • During peak weeks we require a 7 night minimum stay.

  • During low and mid season we do accept short stays and sometimes

  • can be more flexible with arrival days so please do enquire and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

 

  • Strictly no pets allowed.

  • No smoking allowed inside.

  • Allergies: please note that the owners dogs have been in Hygge.

We have stayed at Hygge on numerous occasions over the last three to four years and have found it to be perfect the view is wonderful and having the glass fronted balcony is a real bonus
We have found it to be spotless and really up market interior with the added bonus of a car parking space.

We had a great stay at Hygge in March 2025 and enjoyed it so much we even extended our stay! The property is ideally located within easy walking distance of both the town and North Sands, and has breathtaking views from all the main rooms as well as the large, comfortably-furnished balcony. Many an hour was wasted simply watching the changing landscape and waterscape. The layout, with two good size en suite bedrooms, would suit either two couples or a family. The apartment is equipped to a very high standard and is tastefully styled and spotlessly clean. Harriet was very responsive and helpful and we felt we were in safe hands.

Salcombe is a fantastic holiday destination and Hygge an amazing place to enjoy all that there is on offer. Direct access to the water where you can enjoy kayaking or paddle boarding amongst other things as well as enjoying the fabulous beeches and restaurants, all within walking distance or a short water crossing. Superb:-)
